Neuromodulators (anti wrinkle treatment) are prescription medicines that are injected into muscles and used to temporarily improve the look of moderate to severe wrinkles. There are many different types of neuromodulators available that are FDA approved such as Botox Cosmetic, Dysport, Daxxify, Jeuveau, and Xeomin. These neuromodulators block the nerve impulses, temporarily paralyzing the muscles that cause the wrinkles, while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Common area treatments include forehead wrinkle treatment, crow’s feet, and frown lines.
Side effects are uncommon, and when they do occur, they are generally minimal and mild. Potential side effects include headache, eye redness, tearing, soreness at the site, bruising, which is typically mild and resolves after a few days, eyelid drop (1-3% of cases), asymmetry and nausea.
Treatment typically takes only a few minutes to perform using ultra fine injections with minimal discomfort. After treatment, sometimes ice packs are applied to the treated area to reduce the risk of bruising. Most patients find treatment to be quick, easy, and effective.
You should not get neurotoxin injections if you are pregnant or breast feeding, anyone with a neuromuscular disorder (i.e.: multiple sclerosis, ALS, lambert eaton syndrome, bells palsy, myasthenia gravis), weakness in certain facial muscles, ptosis (dropping eyelids), deep facial scars, or uneven facial features, skin problems near the injection sites such as eczema, scarring, or psoriasis, active infection, known allergy, and/or plan to attend a special event within 2 weeks of treatment or traveling.
Ranges between $11.00 to $13.00 per unit.
